IUPAT District Council 711 supports 23 rd Annual Donor Dash

On Sunday, April 15, members of International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District
Council 711 joined over 12,000 participants to support the 23 rd Annual Donor Dash to raise
funds for the Gift of Life donor tissue program. Their inspiration for participating in the
Philadelphia event was Kevin Blumig, Local 1331’s retired Industrial Apprentice Coordinator of
the Finishing Trades Institute of New Jersey. Blumig was the recipient of a liver transplant and is
now doing well. He is shown here (center) in front of the Rocky statue surrounded by family
and friends at the event.

Participants in this year’s event were volunteers, sponsors and community partners who raised
over $250,000. The Gift of Life Donor Program is the region’s leading non-profit organ and
tissue donor program which serves as the link between those who want to be organ and tissue
donors and those who are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant at one of the 15 regional
transplant hospitals. Serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and
Delaware, Gift of Life has coordinated more than 44,500 organ transplants since 1974.
