Many trades at work on Inspira hospital project
The Inspira hospital project in Mullica Hill, NJ, now has multiple unions at work since it broke
ground in June 2017. Iron workers have now been joined by brick layers, sheet metal workers,
plumbers and pipefitters, and brick layers as the construction site hums with activity.
The $349-million medical center is located just east of the intersection of Route 322 and Route
55, adjacent to the Rowan University campus. The completed project will be approximately
467,000 square feet, sitting on a 100-acre parcel. The project is expected to be completed in
December 2019 and will have employed about 400 union workers by completion. Upon
opening, about 1,400 employees will work at the new hospital.
The five-story building is being constructed by Skanska USA. With 204 beds and associated
medical facilities, the project also includes a new central utility plant to provide electrical
power, heating/hot water and chilled water for the hospital.
